08.01.03 :: 01:10

Helen's given up on Yawara! ^^; She made it to ep 30 before the heavy handed love-angst got to her. I give her props for lasting that long when it's not really her thing ^^ We skipped ahead to the Olympic special. I'd forgotten how good it was, but not the fond memories it brings back. I first saw it at AN with Sean. We'd gotten up early to go see it and while watching it I had to restrain myself from jumping up in my seat and cheering ^^; (I like to express myself while watching anime. It's probably a good thing that I tend to watch it alone or else I would annoy others).

I also showed Helen the greatness of Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros Melee ^^ Must not get addicted to Animal Crossing again x.x! I've challenged her to get good at SSBM so that she can try to kick my butt tomorrow ;) If there's time, that is =/ I'm working the evening shift tomorrow and then we need to get a good night's rest for the Lava Beds on Saturday. It's sad that her visit is almost over =/

08.02.03 :: 21:34

Wai, went to the Lava Beds with Helen and Jeffy today ^^ It was sad in a geeky kind of way how many references Jeffy and I made to FFVIII while we were in the caves ;) (I'm surprised Helen didn't take our flashlights away and leave us down there [grins]).

We didn't go into that many caves, only like, five of them. We were only going into easy to moderate difficulty ones and half of those were closed because of some bat breeding thing that was going on o.O; Er.. okay, yeah, you guys breed, we'll leave you be.

I'm way out of shape and was pooped by the time we left. I wasn't the only one either. Jeffy was asleep in the backseat of the car before we left the national park and Helen was out before we were past the wildlife preserve ;)

08.03.03 :: 21:17

I'm getting my butt kicked at Super Smash Bros Melee by Helen ;_;

08.04.03 :: 21:39

Helen has returned home safe and sound ^^ While we were in the airport waiting for her flight a group of Japanese exchange students(?) arrived. There were at least a dozen of them greeted by a group of teenagers. I feel sorry for them if their exchange program landed them *here* of all places. What a disappointment to land in the middle of freaking nowhere Oregon :P

Earlier this afternoon I stepped on a garden snake in the front yard. I'm glad I had by boots on even though it didn't try anything o.O I told the neighbor about it and she said that she'd found a snake in her garden the other day. I think I'll refrain from wearing sandals outside and stick with boots for a while. (I know garden snakes don't have teeth, but that doesn't mean I want one of them sucking on my toe :P )

I watched some YKK - Quiet Country Cafe this evening. I thought the manga was slow, the anime downright crawls. Actually, it doesn't crawl. As LeVar pointed out, it meanders, wanders, goes everywhere but in the direction of a plot ^^; Yeah, if Helen didn't like Yawara! 'cause of how slow it was I don't think she'll like YKK.

08.05.03 :: 22:54

I've had a bad day all around. My sleep last night was full of nightmares. (Dreamt of crap like a killer with a knife wandering around my house smearing the diced up bits of bodies on the walls). Work was bad for a variety of reasons. (Idiot customers and I don't like the fact that Internet tech support is being turned into after hours telephone tech support). The evening wasn't much better. (I think I pissed off a friend --; ) [Right now I feel like all I can do it piss off people or tell them to piss off =/ Ysa-chan, bless her patience for my whining, is an exemption to this.]

I watched that stupid Busey show again 'cause my bro called and said he was on it tonight (he wasn't). The show is so stupid --; I wish my VCR's timer function worked so that I could set it to record and not watch it :P

My mother wants me to go talk with the neighbors about making more formal arrangements regarding Pickles' care. (She's worried that Pickles isn't eating enough and may not have all her shots and whatnot). So, if mom has her way and the neighbors are agreeable, I'll be adopting a cat that's already adopted me. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Taking care of Pickles shouldn't be a burden, but do I need more responsibility?

My work schedule changed today so I now have tomorrow off and am working this weekend. My mom's glad. She wants me to work at the print shop tomorrow. I'll probably run her deliveries at least and then, I dunno. Hopefully not piss any more people off...

08.06.03 :: 12:03

Oi, Ysa-chan, I didn't have any nightmares last night :) But I did have a weird dream that 'continued' throughout the night. (I'd get up and go to the bathroom, then go back to bed and the dream would pick up where it left off).

I dreamt that I was up north for a week or two because of a family event. It was my grandfather's birthday and everyone in the family gathered at a large hotel he owned to celebrate. (Both of my grandfather's are dead, btw, though my mom's step-father is still alive and it wasn't him in the dream ^^; )

So I'm at this *huge* hotel that's a 5-star type place. My brother and I and some others are sharing a room on the 28th floor and we can't use the elevator to get there (the elevator only goes to an 80th floor penthouse o.o; ) I locate the stairs and we start running up to our room. On our way up we stop at some of the more interesting places, like a floor that's decked out like a forest o.O;

I also find out that I'm one of eleven children x.x; In the dream my father is the only son of grandfather and father kind of had children in 'sets'. The public knows that my bro and I are related, but they don't know I'm related to these nine other famous people or to grandfather o.O; It was trippy. (And completely wrong IRL. MY father is the middle child of five and he had two children :P )

Yeah, apparently each of us in the family had come into fame and fortune on our own regardless of our family relations. I'd made it as a writer and my bro had made it as an actor. The media would have gone nuts to know that so many 'famous' people were gathered at the hotel like we were, but grandfather's super-tight security kept us safe o.o;

It was fast approaching the time for the big dinner where we would present ourselves to grandfather and I couldn't decide what to wear. I was even considering wearing a dress o.O! I decided upon a pants-suit and ran down the stairs for dinner. Grandfather looked over us and said how proud he was to have such talented grandchildren carry on his legacy.

[Woke up and on to dream part 2] It was the next day after the dinner. I was spending at least a week here, but wasn't needed for that much (grandfather was a busy man and would call for me when he wanted to see me). With nothing else to do I went outside the hotel and found a little convenience store / bakery. (I love bakeries :)~~ ) I spotted some delicious looking chocolate chip and M&M cookies in the display case. It was one of those cases that you could open from both sides. I grabbed a bag and went over to take one of the cookies out. I had the case open. Had the tongs in my hand reaching for the cookie. And an attendant opened up her side, swooped in and took all the cookies ;_; I gave her a hurt look, but she was already gone selling the cookies to someone else. Looking in the case there were some plain chocolate chip ones on a lower shelf. Again I aimed for those and again the attendant swooped in and took them before I could ;_; By this time the bakery half of the shop was getting full of customers and people were feeling sorry for me and how I kept having cookies swooped out from under me by the attendant.

[Woke up and on to dream part 3] The next day and grandfather didn't need me today, so he suggested that I go to Toronto for the day (we were right next to it on the US side of the border). I was pleased with this suggestion and scurried over to Toronto with a couple of my nameless siblings. A mini-con was going on this weekend and I figured that I'd run across someone that I knew there. The organizers of the con were having an Iron Author type contest and I'd arrived just in time to sign up. The woman accepting entrants was in the contest herself and was like "huh?! You're Greenbeans?! I thought you weren't going to be able to attend?" She was dismayed that I'd arrived 'cause she knew I'd give her a run for her money in the contest. The only person who showed up in my dream that I knew was Tim. He was entered in the contest as well. I won the contest and then woke up 'cause Mom called me ^^;

08.07.03 :: 20:35

My week is all freaking messed up, yo o.O; Tomorrow's... Friday? o.o It's weird, I'm out of sync because of my wacky work schedule this week =/

I love old school fighting games: Street Fighter II Championship Edition, Samurai Spirits, Art of Fighting, World Heroes, etc. Pretty much pre-Mortal Kombat fighters. Of course, that has nothing to do with my work schedule, but I wanted to state it for the record ;)

08.08.03 :: 21:54

I have a headache that started this morning after "helping" a customer who went out of his way to break his own computer. If you don't know what you're doing don't play around! It took most of the morning to fix his machine and I fear that after everything we've gone through he wouldn't have learned his lesson. It was in working order on Thursday, after all...

08.10.03 :: 00:54

It amazes me how prudish TV is at times. I'm sitting here watching The Goonies... TBS is airing a version that has the statue penis jokes edited out, along with Mouth telling the maid about the "toys" in the attic, and him later sticking his tongue through the painting and making crude comments. I remember when I first saw this movie in the theatre with my brother, mom, and grandmother. They weren't appalled at these scenes then. And that wasn't what I'd taken from the movie. It was a grand adventure had by kids who were my age! I like The Goonies, but I don't think I'll watch it on TV again. Next time I'm at Wal*Mart or Freddy's I'll have to pick up the DVD so that I can enjoy it as it was meant; childish toilet humor and all.

08.10.03 :: 21:06

Today was an exercise in how to be lazy. The most productive thing I did was laundry and water the yard ^^; I spent most of the day asleep, reading Barrayar, and playing video games.

I'm kinda screwed this upcoming week. First my dad tells me that my grandma has moved up her visit and that she's going to be here Friday, then I look at my work schedule and find that I'm working this weekend. My parents are furious that I'm working while grandma is here --; And I'm not going to try trading out the shift. That didn't work the last time I did it (my co-worker skipped out on half the shift =/ )

08.11.03 :: 20:23

Today was un-freaking-believable. It started out average enough with stupid users. The first was a woman who wanted to back up her hard drive by FTPing it to her email account. Um... b'sides an email box not having that much space in it, how did she propose to FTP into an Imail account? [shakes head] But she was second place today. First place was the man who needed help installing a network card. I asked him if it came with a CD and he said yes. I told him to put it in and he couldn't get it to run. After a bit of pondering I asked him about the disc. Then I figured out the problem... "Put the disc in shiney side down, sir." Yep, he was putting the disc in upside down. After that it was no problem and he kept confirming with me that it was supposed to be the silver side down. Oi...

But those were all minor quibbles compared to the Blaster Worm. We were getting calls for it hours before any info showed up on the net regarding it --; I'm glad to say that our tech department had it pretty much figured out and how to fix it long before Symantec posted their write up. But it made for one hell of a day --; The fix isn't quick or easy despite what Symantec says. Not when the lil bastard worm reinfects machines and can get through firewalls if you don't have the right ports blocked.

08.12.03 :: 21:54

What I wanted to do tonight: Play Zelda or Persona 2: Innocent Sin. What I ended up doing tonight: fixing computers -.- I helped at lot of people recover from Blaster Worm today (that was expected). After I got off work I had to help my mom with her machine. It wasn't infected, but she had a list a of ambiguous problems to try to hammer out. It's hard to know what's wrong when there aren't any error messages to go off of =/ I did a lot of basic maintenance and reinstalled a program she said was giving her problems. Hopefully that'll tide her over until she writes down some error messages ^^;

I finished reading Barrayar while waiting for Windows to defrag. I have mixed feeling on the book. It wasn't the indepth character driven space opera I've been craving lately, but it wasn't bad either. Lois McMaster Bujold kept the story going at a good pace with no foot dragging (unlike Rowling :P ) So by default she tops Rowling in my list of authors, but she's not up to McCaffrey or Weber yet.

Sean advised me to pick up the (I forgot the term he used... Omnibook?) versions of the early books instead of trying to find the individual novels. Those proved a lot easier to find and cheaper ^^; Before I was dragging into fixing mom's computer I swung by the book store and picked up Cordelia's Honor, Young Miles, and Miles, Mystery & Mayhem. I'm gonna go back and read Shards of Honor now that I've finished the book that follows it :P

Because Nightbreak asked. Here's a picture of the living room wall with FFX goodies on it. Yuna is standing on top of the rack of NES (and SNES and Genesis) games. On the TV are a NES, SNES, and PSX (the PSX has a Chrono Cross clock on it). On the wall is that evil FFX puzzle Helen and I put together while she visited :) And next to that is a Rikku wallscroll *wuv*. When you enter the house that wall is the first thing you see if you venture any further than the kitchen [grins].

08.13.03 :: 21:07

My car has a flat tire. This is not wholly unexpected nor is it a crisis. My neighbor owns a tire store so I sweet talked him into jacking up my car, taking the tire, and he'll repair it tomorrow ^^; (That or sell me another tire, whatever he thinks is appropriate.)

My fingers are sore and blistered from making network cables today. It's odd. Last time I did marathon cable-making I didn't hurt, but this time I'm definitely hurt. I was going to spend this evening playing games, but I think hitting the controller buttons might hurt ^^; I know the Gamecube's stick can dig into my thumb and I don't need that right now ^^; My poor right hand, it looks like I've been getting into mischief lately. There's a scabbed over cut on the back of it from where the washing machine took a sizable nick out of me Sunday and now my fingers have bandaids on them 'cause of the blisters x.X; I need hazard pay!

08.14.03 :: 21:56

I had an interesting day. A couple stupid people called and the prank I tried to pull backfired (or at very least failed... It counts as failing when the person *likes* what you've done to their computer, right?) We've also discovered that a mouse is living in a closet next to my cubby. I'll be taking care of that, no worries.

Tomorrow will probably be just as interesting. I'm taking Pepper in to be groomed, I have to tell Key bank to go to hell, and my grandparents will be arriving. My mom wants me to grandparent-sit while she tends to the shop. Oh boy, what to do with the grandparents? x.x; I've been trying to think of things. I'm sure I'll come up with something.

The neighbor (who owns a tire store ^^; ) was nice and fixed the tire on my car, but suggested that I didn't leave the valley with the tire the way that it was =/ I asked him to order me some tires, whatever I needed, two or four. I know I'm going to take a couple few hundred dollar hit, but that's what my emergency expense fund is for, eh? ^^;

08.15.03 :: 15:36

Woo, busy day. Took Pepper to the groomers (I wonder how long it'll take her to tear apart the little bandana they put around her neck? ^^; ) I took myself down to the mall to get a haircut as well. I waited for the place to open, walked in, and asked for a trim. The lady at the counter said, "I don't have any stylist today." "Wha-? But, you're open..." "Yes, but no one can cut hair. Come back tomorrow." [blink blink] I left the mall and went to tell off Key bank (which I did). After that I went to mom's shop (right across the street from the bank) and asked her where she got her hair cut. There was a place right next door. Oh... Okay. Walked over there and asked them to cut my hair. No problem! The stylists there were former employees of the place in the mall and were laughing at the fact that the mall place had no stylists in today ^^; They recognized me and knew my mom (sometimes this town is just too small o.o; )

While they were cutting my hair my mom came over to tell me that my grandparents had arrived and that she needed me to grandparent-sit them. I carried their luggage up to mom's apartment before taking them to Red Robin for lunch. After that I took them to my place to kill some time. Grandpa fell asleep in a chair while grandma watched me play video games. (She asked, darn it! I wouldn't have pulled them out otherwise). I killed about an hour before they asked to go back to mom's apartment so that they could feed their dog.

So, um, yeah. I'm home now and tired. S'posed to have dinner with them tonight, but my stomach's been kickin' up a fit lately no matter what I eat. I'm sure it'll stop soon, but it's annoying in the meantime :P

08.17.03 :: 01:33

Dad's staying wtih me this weekend. It feels weird to have him here. I started to play an mp3 and hastily turned down my speakers 'cause I was afraid of disturbing him. It's just different having someone else in the house.

I'm having fun playing Persona 2: Innocent Sin, but it's kind of slow going because of the language barrier. I can only play for a couple hours at time before I get tired of "working" to be able to play. (Maneuvering through menus and whatnot. Plus Persona is just one of those games that requires you to think when setting your characters up for the next dungeon.)

I didn't get much of Shards of Honor read today either. It was a constantly busy day at work. Didn't have a chance to read more than a couple pages at a time before the next call came in. I'm waiting for the story to pick up. I'm tired of this "wandering around the surface of an alien planet" shtick. That's why I can't read much of Terry Brooks without dying of boredom :P

08.17.03 :: 20:12

I've got 5 hours on the timer for Persona 2: Innocent Sin and I'm about 1.5 hours into the actual game. It could be worse considering... ^^; I was such a freaking moron this afternoon. I would play and then have to stop and look up a phrase and so I'd tell the game to save while I did that, look up and I was back on the 3rd floor of a dungeon. Huh. I did that twice before I figured out that I was actually *loading* the game not *saving* it --; Baka Baka Baka Baka --; Once I stopped doing that I started making some real progress. I'm through the Seven Sisters High School and am about to go to the Zodiac. I spread the rumor that the principal lived even though he's a rat that deserved to die. I'm too nice :P

08.18.03 :: 20:22

I went outside this morning to feed Pickles. Usually she tackles her dish after I put food in it, but this morning she just looked out at the field. I called for Pepper to come into the house (she was out doing her business) and she too was look at at the field. I looked in the direction they were just in time to see a coyote run down the road past the house o.O; That's either a brave or a lost coyote, to be out during the daylight hours.

I have some things on my mind right now and I'm not sure what to do about them. I think that's one of my biggest flaws. I see an opportunity and I'm frozen by inaction / indecision. Life will eventually pass me by because I couldn't figure out what I wanted...

08.19.03 :: 22:45

I got a tape in the mail from my bro today. It was a copy of his acting audition-type tape. Heh, it's hard not to watch it through the biased eyes of a sister. His "acting" is the same old bullshit dramatics I've seen for the last 20 years, only more refined ^^; I also saw one of the episodes of "I'm with Busey" he said he was on. He was right, they did really cut down on what you can see of him. Dunno when the next one is on. I'll have to bug him until I find out.

Still banging my head (and heart) against the wall. Maybe I'm just in a weird mood and I'll sleep the indecision off...

08.20.03 :: 21:27

I got a look at the FFX-2 artbook tonight. My thoughts? Paine has very nice ass muscles in the Thief costume :P She also looks just as likely to beat the crap out of you with the White Mage staff as to heal you. Gentle healer indeed... You don't get hurt for fear that she'll "take care" of you :P All of them look cute with the goggles of the Alchemist ^^ My favorite costume overall is still Rikku's Gambler outfit :)

08.22.03 :: 22:50

Yay! I have a couple few days off in a row, I'm so happy ^^I took a short nap after work and have spent the rest of the evening half watching Noir and burning CDs. Helen and I have decided to call Paine's Thief costume the "Asspants" outfit. Her White Mage costume is "Mage Basher" and Dark Knight is "HotPants" (if I recall correctly).

I don't feel like repeating the tech support story that I had today. If you're interested I posted it on my Live Journal. (I tend to post stories from work on the LJ right after they happened. That and useless quizzes and tests :D )

08.23.03 :: 19:03

Is it just me or has everyone (excluding Jeffy and friends) been stuck in 2nd gear today. I mean... People are SOOOO slow! I went to visit Jeffy today and got stuck behind a semi that was stuck behind an SUV that insisted on going at least 10MPH below the speed limit --; This frustrates me. At least go the limit, please. B'sides that, driving the pass to kfalls is, well, fun :) You can *zooooom* around the switch-backing curves, but slow people ruin it --; I got stuck behind slow people *both ways*. That's 140 miles of pokey drivers going the speed of a greased turtle stampeding through peanut butter, AUGH!

Anyhow, my visit with Jeffy was good ^^ I hadn't seen him in a few weeks (not since Helen was here). We caught up some and he lent me Primal. The chick on the cover looks cool. That's always a promising start and Jeffy says it's a good game.

When I got back into town I stopped by the shoe store by mom's shop. I'd been kind of avoiding going there 'cause I knew my debit card would go "Ouch!" afterwards, but these other boots I got just weren't cutting it. The card didn't whine too much and I got a nice pair of lace-up loafers that *actually fit me*! I know this sounds like I'm getting excited over something stupid, but I've worn boots / high tops / sandals for as long as I can remember because loafers / sneakers slip off my foot (I have a narrow heel.) =/ I didn't have a lot of styles to choose from, but I found a pair of black shoes that *aren't boots*! *ahem* Yay ^^

This evening I'm going to dinner at Red Lobster with my parents and some of their friends. The 'rents are doing the "show off your child" thing ^^; S'kay, at least I have spiffy new shoes to strut around in! XD

08.24.03 :: 22:16

I think I've been playing too much Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution today ^^; I'm in the Quest mode right now playing as Jacky. My rank is 1st dan and my record is 79 / 1 (and I *have not* been cheese-balling it. No cancelling out of the match if I was about the lose or resetting the game if I did lose) ^^; Since this game only cost $20 and I've already played it for about 7 hours (I spent a few hours in the Arcade mode before playing Quest mode) I'm pretty sure I'll hit my $1 per 1 hour of play ratio fairly quickly. Oh yes, my thumbs will be in good shape for Soul Calibur II on Wednesday :D

Despite my apparent laziness I have done a lot today. I did the laundry, played with the pets, watered the lawn, helped a couple people with their computers, and burned about 70 CDs so far o.O; I also feel great guilt over the amount of money I've spent this weekend --; Well, it can't be helped. I go to work to make money to pay bills so that I can live comfortably :P Bills happen, yo! It'd just be nice if the money hung out in my checking account for a while, y'know?

08.25.03 :: 14:39

If God ever creates a Human v2.0 I have a suggestion: Make certain limbs detachable. I would have slept a lot better last night if my left arm wasn't pinned under my body. If I could have just detached the arm and left it next to my bed, no problems. I could just roll over and the shoulder wouldn't be hurting today. I'd also suggest making fingers detachable. It'd be useful when "power gaming" and the ring and pinky fingers get in the way or are put into uncomfortable positions by crappy controllers. I wouldn't recommend making heads detachable. Too many people lose those already and it's stuck to their shoulders...

08.26.03 :: 21:21

I stood out in the yard tonight and tried to locate Mars. It wasn't a very successful effort for a couple reasons. First, I was trying to keep track of Pepper (black and white dark in the dark isn't easy to find, especially when she has a history of running off). Then I didn't have my glasses on. Yeah, all the world more than a yard away from my nose tends to be an increasing blur, so star gazing is looking a black with a lot of white blur spots. (I'd make the perfect UFO spotter :P ) And, of course, I don't really know my heavenly bodies. I can point out the Moon, the Big and Little Dippers, and Orion (by the belt!) but the rest are distant specks of light. I narrowed down three red-ish possibilities. I'm pretty sure one of them was an airplane. I'm going to pretend the bright one just behind the barn was Mars. It'll make me feel better.

The second episode of "I'm with Busey" that my bro is in airs tonight. I wanted to go to bed early, but instead I'm staying up to record it for my folks. I wish the timer function worked on my VCR. I'm not going to buy a new VCR to replace this old one when it's an outgoing technology :P

For the FFX-2 fans out there (which I know *allllll* of you are ;) Koda Kumi's new single Come With Me has English versions of "real emotion" and "1000 Words", the two image songs from FFX-2. I think it's a safe bet to say that they'll be the versions used when FFX-2 is released in North America come December. The link above includes audio samples of the songs, which will tide me over until I get my paws on the Single itself ;)

One more thing, for the record, GMR's review of Soul Calibur II on Gamers.com is crap. (Actually, that goes for their magazine as well. All funky layout with very little useful content, but that's another rant entirely.) Anyhow, the reason I single this review out is because it gets Taki's weapon wrong, which is irking considering how big of a role her weapon plays in her backstory --; If you're reading this Mr. LamerGMR reviewer, she's not using a pair of sai (do you even know what a sai looks like?), she's using a pair of Ninja swords (I assume they're ninjato) named Rekki-Maru (the one on her back that she draws) and Mekki-Maru (the evil one at the small of her back that she *doesn't* draw). Hell, even the official website tells you the names of the weapons on Taki's profile :P I'm irked because this is one of THE gaming releases of the year and they can't be bothered to get the details right --;

08.27.03 :: 21:05

I made it through work today with images of Soul Calibur II dancing in my head ^^ Actually, it wasn't that hard to wait, I was pretty busy today. I started my DSL training, which involved a lot of paperwork and calling Qwest's tech support. (And on one of my calls I got a female tech! Surprise, surprise!) B'sides that, one of the northern networks was brought to a crawl because a customer's virus infested machine was attacking the router --; We had to unplug the network entirely and bring people up on by one until we found the culprit :P Let's see... I also outlined and did research for next month's tech newsletter *and* the one for the month following that =) I just need to find some time away from the noise of the tech room to write 'em and those'll be done!

Enough work crap, more gaming! Soul Calibur II rocks. I bought the GameCube version. The controller *is not* bothering me. (I've heard so many controller debates over the last week... o.O ) It's kinda funky how you can almost use the directional stick and the C-stick and manage to do a heckuva lot. I'll have to practice with it more.

I also picked up Disgaea, but I dunno if I'll start it tonight. I'm pretty tired -.- The guys at the game store asked me to tell them what I thought of it next time I came in. I was the only person who'd reserved it (or that they'd sold a copy to), but looking at the packaging they were intrigued to know more. I read through the manual and it looks like it could be pretty spiffy. Then again, so did Hoshigami. If this turns out to be another turkey like that one I'm not buying any more Atlus games unless "Persona" or "Megami Tensei" is somewhere in the title :P (Well, except for DemiKids, which I played at E3 and know is cute ^_^ )

08.28.03 :: 19:28

I'm so excited! There's gonna be an anime con in Oregon: KumoriCon. Yeah, it's a small first year con, but it's a con that I don't have to travel 3000 miles for :P I've been firing emails off to fellow Oregonians to let them know about it ^^v I've already gotten that weekend off work so that I can attend :D I dunno about sleeping arrangements yet, I need to speak with some people first. [Prods her fellow Oregonians to check their email faster :P ]

I played Disgaea for about 45 minutes last night and was quite pleased with it. It's got a quirky sense of humor. You want to take the game seriously like Kartia, but you can't help but smile when the characters do something funny. I'd compare it to Rhapsody, another game Atlus published. So far, so good. I'm sure I'l have more to say once I'm further into the game. Oh, wait, one more thing! After a missile pod and a treecat, I want an exploding penguin for Christmas :) (I told ya the game was quirky.)

I hate Microsoft Publisher. Adobe has a nice corner on the desktop publishing market with PageMaker, so stop trying to muck in it with your crappy programs, MS. Okay, I'm just peevish because I wrote up a manual in Publisher a couple years ago at my then-boss's insistence and now I'm trying to get the content back. I don't have Publisher. I don't know anyone who does, actually. Microsoft doesn't have a viewer tool on their website for Publisher (unlike every other Office product.) Adobe does have a converter tool. I have PageMaker 6.52 and the converter for that version only works on Publisher 95 and 97. So I'm currently downloading a trial version of PageMaker 7 so that I can use the conversion tool I've downloaded that supposedly works with that version and should be able to crack this Publisher 2000 file. Moral of the story, don't use programs you don't have to write documents you might need at some point in the future :P

On the plus side, while mucking around I managed to hit the magical combination of rom + translation patch + emulator to get Radical Dreamers working. I hope to amuse myself with that tomorrow if I can't get any writing done.

It was another rotten day at work. Well, to be fair, work itself wasn't that bad, I was just in an irritable mood and getting the real winners for callers. Like the guy who called up wanting know how to dial international numbers. I suggested looking in the front of the phone book. He pointed out that it said to call his service provider. Yes, true, and as your service provider I'm telling you to dial the number and see if it works. HE HADN'T EVEN TRIED THE CALL YET! ... You call people to complain if it doesn't work, not beforehand, skippy.

On the plus side, I played through Radical Dreamers scenario 1, 2, and I'm half way through scenario 3. (It shouldn't take me long to knock off the extra scenarios.) I was hoping that by playing this game I might understand Chrono Trigger and (especially) Chrono Cross... but nope, I'm still pretty much lost. Yay, go me. :P

Darn me and my gluttonous stomach! ;_; My parents called me late this morning to say, "We went to Costco and got a hot dog for you. Come down to the shop and get it." "Okay!" I agree naively. When I got there dad gave me the hot dog, but I was trapped! I ended up working down there for three hours this afternoon before I made my escape.

ReRun the demon cat from hell also attacked me while I was there. I was walking by and he pounced from behind (I still don't know where he was hiding). He latched onto my ankle with his teeth and clamped until I shook him off. (Thank goodness the little bugger doesn't have claws --; ) But that was the last straw. I'm *NOT* going to take care of him while my parents are on vacation. The little bastard can starve for all I care. (Not that it'll be much of an issue. Knowing ReRun and my inability to get along my parents bought a food dispenser at PetsMart that holds enough food for the entire time they're gone.)

I'm still mad about that. I went home and gave Pepper a bath. Notice how I can do something that dogs tend to hate to her and she DOESN'T BITE ME! Grr [hugs Pepper]. Pepper's a zillion times better than ReRun. Hmph. I wonder where Pickles is this afternoon. She's shedding on the porch and I want to brush her out...
